Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a 10 gauge scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dull dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. Dermplaning preps the skin for better product absorption. Not only does this painless, quick treatment provide a nice exfoliation, it also removes peach fuzz from our faces. You know that fuzz that cakes up our makeup. By removing the dead skin cells and facial hair your skin is left feeling smooth and buttery. Just imagine your makeup gliding on flawlessly.
Dermaplaning is also a wonderful pre-op treatment to be done prior to laser treatments, and chemical peels. This treatment can also be done prior to DermalInfusion® and SkinPen®.
WHO IS DERMAPLANING FOR?
While this treatment is recommended for all skin types, if you are experiencing an acneic breakout with deep cystic acne it is best to wait until your breakout has cleared. As always, discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment.
This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the blood stream and potentially harming your baby.
HOW IS DERMAPLANING DONE?
Your skincare specialist will first cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Next, an area of your skin is pulled taut with one hand, and with a sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45-degree angle in the other hand your skincare specialist will use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
This treatment takes about 30 minutes
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF DERMAPLANING?
There are no side effects and zero downtime. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may look very pink. Wearing an SPF30 or higher is recommended to protect the skin from over exposure to the sun.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DERMAPLANING?
You’ll immediately look more radiant with a beautiful glow, more even skin tone and texture. All of your peach fuzz will be gone most patients say their skin has never felt so soft before.
RECOMMENDED COURSE FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS?
Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment.
Many women are often concerned that shaving peach fuzz will make it grow back heavier and darker, but that’s just an old wives’ tale. Superficial vellus hair (peach fuzz) will grow back at the same rate and with the same texture as it was before the treatment.
What is the cost of Dermplaning?
Service Fee: $75 for 20 minutes, $112.50 for 40 minutes, and $150 for an hour treatment
